Research of Parameters of a Compression Ignition Engine Using Various Fuel Mixtures of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Fatty Acid Esters (FAE)

The present study is aimed at studying the energy and environmental performance various engine loads (BMEP) with identical start of injection (SOI) for all fuel types. combustion parameters mixtures were analyzed using AVL BOOST software (BURN subroutine). Five different blends tested, consisting completely renewable raw materials based on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fatty acid methyl ester (FE100), properties diesel (D) compared respect to these blends. mixed in following proportions: FE25 (FE25HVO75), FE50 (FE50HVO50), FE75 (FE75HVO25). In this study, exhaust was found produce higher NOx values FE blends, HVO being lowest. Hydrocarbon smoke emissions also significantly lower than diesel. Possible explanations are physical composition mixtures, affecting further combustion. results showed that containing more unsaturated acids release nitrogen oxides, thus having a thermal efficiency HVO. No essential differences CO between D observed. An increase indicator observed low ester. CO2 reduced aforementioned analysis show high content acids, have longer time fuel.
